VFL: Tarrant returns
Robbie Tarrant will make a significant step towards an AFL return on Sunday, lining up for Werribee.
The 25-year-old will be eased back in, likely to play around 60 to 70 per cent game-time according to the club’s Director of Football Geoff Walsh
Tarrant could line up against a familiar face, with former North rookie Brad Mangan amongst Williamstown’s key-defensive options.
He’s sure to have plenty of help from his AFL team-mates too - Mason Wood and Ben Brown have also been named in a star-studded Tigers’ forward-line.
Another former Roo Ben Warren is in fine goal-kicking form, while Kieran Harper and Kayne Turner will look to have an impact at ground level.
The Burbank Oval fixture pits third against fourth, and Werribee will place a heavy reliance on its North contingent if it’s to get the points.
Scott McMahon and Taylor Hine will lead the defensive charge, with Sam Wright another option if he’s overlooked for an AFL appearance.
Tim McGenniss is sure to get another important stopping role, while Daniel Currie will look to push his case again in the ruck.
For North Ballarat, Saturday’s match against Box Hill is a must-win to stay in touch with the finals’ contenders.
The Roosters only have four certain North starters at this stage, with Ben Jacobs, Liam Anthony, Brad McKenzie and Robin Nahas all in the 25-man squad to take on Richmond.
Eric Wallace could have a big say in the result, with the Hawks losing rucks Jonathon Ceglar and Luke Lowden to Hawthorn.
The American-rookie has been a steady improver this season, continuing to get his hands on the ball in the ruck and increasing his numbers around the ground.
Max Warren will lead the defensive group, while Mitch Wilkins and Trent Dumont will look to have an impact off the bench.
The Roosters sit in ninth place with three wins from seven games, with the reigning premier Box Hill just one game off top spot.
