Leigh Adams has successfully raced the clock, making a full recovery from post-season knee surgery last year, just in time for North’s season opener against Essendon on Friday night.

The 25-year-old was in doubt only a few weeks ago, but has jumped every hurdle since, including getting through a few VFL practice matches and fitness tests.

Adams will line up for his 83rd game for the Kangaroos and looks to have leapt former Tiger Robbie Nahas for a spot in the 22.

Daniel Currie has narrowly missed out on making his AFL debut once again and has been named on the emergency list alongside Nahas and Joel Tippett.

North veteran Michael Firrito won’t be playing against the Bombers either with the match committee opting for the likes of Scott McMahon, Nathan Grima, Scott Thompson and Jamie Macmillan in defence.

Debutant Luke McDonald will start on the bench.
