To be eligible, players must be under the age of 21 on December 31, 2022 and the player must not have been previously nominated as a weekly AFLW Rising Star.

Last season saw Mia King and Isabella Eddey receive nominations in Round 1 and 7 respectively.

After collecting 15 disposals and kicking a goal in the season-opener, King put together an impressive season that culminated in a third-place Rising Star finish with 33 votes, while Eddey was nominated off the back of her 16-disposal and four-mark game in North's 23-point win over Collingwood.
