The countdown is on to North Melbourne's first home game of the season against Brisbane on Sunday, as the side looks to bounce back from the loss to Adelaide.

According to the captain Andrew Swallow, 'we might have to look at changing a couple of things up', hinting at the possibility for players to come into the 22. NMFC.com.au looks at some of the Roos in the mix for a call up.

Forwards

There were two key position forwards against Adelaide in Round 1; a departure from the norm where three have been used.

If there is to be an extra tall forward brought into the side to face the Lions, there are plenty of options.

Ben Brown was initially selected to play at Adelaide Oval before being a late withdrawal. Meanwhile for Werribee, Mason Wood and Majak Daw both played well against the AFL Academy. Wood in particular came in for high praise from development coach Ben Dyer.

"He really played to his strengths. He hit up, up the field and then turned around and hit up again. The opposition just couldn't go with him.

"Defensively he was pretty strong as well. A couple of times they marched the ball out and he'd just get an arm in and tackle, or steal the ball and create opportunities for the other players with his pressure.

Aaron Black is also an option, having kicked more career goals against the Lions than any other side.

Midfielders

With Brad Scott pointing out the contested ball as a major reason for the loss to the Crows, Trent Dumont may be a possibility for an AFL debut. At home when in the middle of a pack, the South Australian's ability to use the ball and also spend time forward makes him a versatile option.

Kieran Harper has put together two consecutive good performances for Werribee in its pre-season practice matches.

Defenders

If he completes a full week of training, Lachlan Hansen will be every chance to make his return against the Lions. His presence in the defensive 50 was missed against a rampaging Crows forward line on Sunday.

Robbie Tarrant could be another to make his way into the side as a defender. Not having played a senior game in the role since 2011, the 196 centimetre key position player was very solid in the role during the pre-season.
