Following last week’s bye, North Melbourne could welcome back some of its injured stars that missed games prior to the break.

Some AFL-listed players who have featured prominently in the VFL could also be awarded senior recalls, as the back-end of the season gets underway.

North Media takes a look at those in the mix for selection ahead of Saturday night’s clash with the Western Bulldogs.

Defenders

Ben McKay could earn himself a senior recall after showing impressive form in the VFL. The strong marking defender has impressed coaches, but will be forced to bide his time in the reserves given the good form of the senior defenders.

Midfielder-turned-defender Ryan Clarke has been solid since returning to the reserves after playing the majority of the year in the seniors. The half-backer was recently thrown back into the midfield and has had no trouble finding the ball, averaging more than 31 disposals in his past two games.

Midfielders

Jed Anderson could make a return as he recovers from a hamstring complaint. The hard-nosed midfielder missed North’s clash with Geelong and will be a lock if passed fit by the medical staff.

Draftee Kyron Hayden has impressed in recent weeks in the VFL, using his solid build to lay strong tackles and win the contested ball. The 19-year-old has recovered well from his pre-season shoulder surgery, and could make his AFL debut sooner rather than later.

Forwards

Veteran Jarrad Waite has battled a calf injury, but could return this week. North is expected to be cautious with Waite, but will no doubt play him if he is declared fit given his impressive form this season.

Fellow key forward Nick Larkey has been in red-hot form in front of goal this season, but like many, he will be forced to bide his time in the reserves given the strong form of the senior side.
