With three premium defenders now locked away, it's time to pick one mid-priced player that we hope can provide some valuable points, as well as the potential to improve to be a premium option.

Mid-priced players are an important component of any AFL Fantasy team, as they offer money-making potential, along with reasonable fantasy scores at the same time.

This group often includes gun players that may have had an injury-affected 2013 season like Matt Suckling, or who are on the verge of a breakout season after several years in the system, like David Swallow.

Ideally, the player selected here will turn into a keeper for the season, but having been acquired at a fraction of the price of other premium options.

Remember - any cash saved with these early selections will be reinvested back into the team ahead of Round 2.
