Despite an AFL record 80 hit-outs against the Giants, Todd Goldstein was not voted as best-on-ground by the two coaches.
That honour went to Jamie Macmillan; his 29 disposals and three goals earning the 23 year old nine out of a possible 10 votes. It was the first votes for Macmillan in 2015.
Goldstein polled eight votes, widening his gap at the top of the North Melbourne leaderboard. He also moved into equal fourth spot in the AFL, tied with Scott Pendlebury on 45 votes.
The ruckman set AFL records for both total hit-outs and hit-outs to advantage against the Giants, helping North to a whopping 58-30 clearance edge.
In his first game for more than two months, Nick Dal Santo earned seven votes for his 34 disposals and eight clearances. The midfielder looked like he hadn’t missed any action as he gave the Kangaroos a much needed touch of class on the outside.
In game 396, Brent Harvey polled two votes. He had 28 disposals, five clearances, five inside 50’s and three goal assists.
Meanwhile Ben Jacobs was recognised for his excellent tagging job on Dylan Shiel with his first vote of 2015.
Heading into the match Shiel was averaging almost 30 disposals a game. Jacobs held the Giants’ midfielder to only 11 at Spotless Stadium while collecting 16 of his own.
