North Melbourne has made four changes to its line-up for Saturday's VFLW clash against Carlton at Arden Street Oval.

Two players will make their debuts for the club including former AFLW Cat Madisen Maguire and ex-VFLW Bulldog Margie Purcell.

The two other inclusions are Mara McSweeney and Mietta McDonald, while the outs include AFLW-listed Cassidy Mailer (managed), Ellie Macdonald (injured), Kayla Peake and Annie Xanthos.

AFLW players Taylah Gatt and Ruby Tripodi have been named on the wing and in the midfield, respectively.

Tripodi looks to back up her strong club debut against the Western Bulldogs in which she had 15 disposals.

North Melbourne's VFLW side has suffered a second consecutive loss, going down to Carlton by 35 points at Arden Street Oval on Saturday afternoon.

Despite the size of the deficit, the Kangaroos were still a chance to pinch the win heading into the last term, but a Carlton three-goal to two-behind-quarter dashed the home side's chances.

"It was interesting how the game played out, I thought we were right in with a chance up until three-quarter time," VFLW coach Steph Binder told NMFC Media.

"They got that quick goal on us going into the fourth (quarter) and we got back a lot of territory and momentum but we just couldn’t convert.

"We leaked a few easy ones at the back-end, but we had a lot of growth areas from last weekend which was really impressive ... straight away Carlton controlled territory but we were able to absorb lots of pressure and we brought a lot of pressure ourselves.

"We just struggled to move the ball but I think the score looks worse than what we're feeling in terms of how it played out."

The clubs exchanged a goal each in the opening term with late inclusion Jade Hillas nailing an opportunistic mid-air strike from close range to promptly respond to Georgia Tait's first of the day for Carlton.

"Jade was just brilliant coming in for her first game of the season," Binder said.

"Her workrate was brilliant, she had lots of looks on goals and ended up snagging one as well so it was a great opportunity for her to come in."

Hillas was a late call-up to take Madisen Maguire's spot, with a finger injury holding back the former AFLW Cat from making her club debut, AFLW-listed Taylah Gatt (managed) was another late withdrawal and was replaced by Dalia Edward 

"It's pretty hard covering 'Gatty' who's been so brilliant out on the wing all year so she was always going to be a big loss," Binder said.

"Madi's been really good at putting together some consistent footy at training and we were excited for her debut and for her to have a finger injury and find out that she wasn't going to get up was heartbreaking as well."

"But we were really pleased with the opportunity it gave Dalia on the wing and Jade came into the forward line, so that was a really good reward for their hard work."

After Hillas goalled mid-way through the first quarter, the home side wouldn't celebrate another major until the third term when Jess Mourney pulled one back for the Kangaroos with her second of the campaign.

It wasn't enough though as the Blues ran out 7.9 (51) to 2.4 (16) winners.
