Comben arrived from Sale via Gippsland Power in 2019 as a raw, athletic key position prospect, and has established himself as a fan favourite, often seen engaging with the faithful on social channels.
His road has been rocky, the former pick No.31 having estimated he’s broken “23 or 24” bones, but he’s never backed away from his aggressive approach.
When fit, he’s one of the game’s most promising talls – stretchy, agile and courageous, with a crisp set of hands.
North Melbourne debut: Round 22, 2021
2024: Comben was unveiled as a defender in the Roos’ Gather Round game against Brisbane, and blew fans away with 25 disposals, 13 intercepts and eight marks.
He went on to play in all but the Roos’ final match for a career-high tally of 19, and averaged an impressive 3.2 rebound 50s, 6.4 marks and seven intercepts.
Later in the season he swung forward on occasion, and kicked three goals in a quarter against Carlton to have North Melbourne people buzzing about where his game can go.
