In a reflection of an even match at Blundstone Arena, five Kangaroos polled votes from the coaches for their efforts.
It was led by Drew Petrie; his 21 disposals, 10 marks and four goal assists earning his first nine votes of the season. The vice-captain played further up the ground than normal, with the move working well.
Lindsay Thomas was labelled by Brad Scott as the man who got North going in the second half, and his five goal haul was rewarded with the same number of votes.
Jack Ziebell and Todd Goldstein polled five and two votes respectively. Interestingly enough, the two have been rewarded by the coaches in three games – all North victories, perhaps pointing to them being a barometer of sorts for the team’s performance.
Shaun Higgins’ class stood out in a scrappy first half, and he was rewarded with one vote for his 15 disposals and three goals.
