A new week at Aegis Park was greeted with the news the players would participate in their first mini-scratch match of 2012.

The skills in close were a feature of the clash, as it seemed none of the players had any rust to work off despite a long-time between matches.

As the thermometer kept rising and approached the mid-30s, so did the intensity with Ben Speight and Robbie Tarrant feeling the full effects. In the stop-start affair there were many standouts; no-one surprised to see the captain Brent Harvey leading the way and running riot.

Others amongst the best during the morning hit-out were Cruize Garlett with his high skill below the knees, Sam Gibson with his general composure in contested situations and Cameron Pedersen; his work up forward and in defence a highlight.

With the finish line now in sight, the intraclub match just two weeks away and Round 1 of the NAB Cup on February 17 approaching, the buzz will be fever pitch when supporters come down to Aegis Park on Thursday for Australia Day training at 10.30am.
