North Melbourne mid-season recruits Jacob Edwards and Charlie Ham have been presented their jumper numbers for the remainder of 2021.
Edwards will wear the jersey number 32, most recently vacated by Mason Wood.
The number is steeped in history at North, with 1975 premiership captain and team of the century member Barry Davis also wearing the #32.
Other notable guardians of the number include 132-gamer John Waddington and North Hall of Famer Albert Mantello.
Edwards says his dad is the inspiration behind him choosing the #32.
“It’s massive having the number 32 because that was the jersey number my dad played in when he was younger,” Edwards told North Media.
“I’m kind of taking on his role playing in 32. Even though it wasn’t planned, it was such a good coincidence that it happened.”
Charlie Ham will take on the number 34, most recently worn by one-club man Jamie MacMillan, who played 157 games in the royal blue and white.
Ross Henshaw starred in North’s 1975 and 1977 premiership victories wearing the number 34, while two-time All-Australian David King wore it in the 1996 and 1999 triumphs.
