Wear it with pride
It will be a proud moment for Lindsay Thomas when he lines up in the club’s first Indigenous guernsey.
The guernsey, released on Thursday night via NMFC.com.au has been received with overwhelming support from the footballing community, not least Thomas himself.
“It’s something that’s really special to me and Daniel (Wells) that we really hold close to our hearts,” he said on Fox Footy’s AFL 360.
“For the club to be able to give us this opportunity to wear this on Indigenous Round, it’s something that me and Daniel, and every Indigenous player that’s played for our footy club can cherish on that weekend.”
More than 20 Indigenous players have lined up for North in the VFL/AFL, with the guernsey, designed by artist Sarrita King set to celebrate their achievements.
“I just felt that it’s something that we had to do. We’ve had so many great Indigenous players represent our footy club and really leave a great mark on the game,” Thomas added.
“It’s something that I’ve been pushing really hard for the past two or three years, and it’s just great that the club finally allowed us to design this great jumper.”

Upon its release, King said the jumper symbolized 'everyone; the supporters and the players coming together at the one place; the North Melbourne footy club.'
The club has already welcomed high demand for the guernsey, with just 360 available for purchase.
