HAWTHORN has confirmed that utility Campbell Brown has declined an offer from Port Adelaide that would see him traded to the club as part of a Shaun Burgoyne deal.
It was reported on Wednesday morning that the Hawks had put forward Brown's name as a potential bargaining chip in their bid to secure the Power midfielder.
Club president Jeff Kennett later denied the move and said Brown's future was with Hawthorn.
The Hawks then released a statement acknowledging the Power's interest in Brown, but that he wasn't going anywhere.
"Port Adelaide raised their interest in the versatile defender with Brown's management at Elite Sports Properties," the statement read.
"However, Brown expressed his desire to stay at Hawthorn and he re-affirmed his commitment to the club in talks with club officials today."
Kennett also said the club would not be offering any of its 2008 premiership players to Port Adelaide to make the Burgoyne trade happen.
"Hawthorn has not offered up any premiership player, and nor will we. It's as simple as that - it cannot be interpreted differently," he told Melbourne radio station SEN.
"It is my desire that no premiership player leaves Hawthorn.
"We're not offering up any premiership player, I don't want to see any go, I want to have the base there for 2010."
