It was a tough game down at Arden Street Oval for North Melbourne’s VFLW side, after registering its seventh loss for the year.
The undefeated Magpies asserted their strength with a 27-point-lead at the quarter-time-break.
The Kangaroos did everything they could in the second and third quarters, but Collingwood’s wealth of experience was too hard to come back from.
The 62-point-loss was disappointing for Coach Cheyne Webster, but he acknowledges that it was a great learning experience for his young side.
“The weekend provided another development opportunity for numerous players on our list,” he told North Media.
“Our top-end talent have been great all season, but continuing to find out more about the players on our list is really important.
“I thought early and late in the game we really struggled to control the game, but in bigger patches in the middle of the contest we moved the ball well and played our way.”
Meagan Kiely continued her breakout season, with 23 disposals and 4 tackles, while her teammate Nadia Moore was pivotal in defence, with 10 contested possessions out of her overall 13 disposals.
Recruit Lexi Hamilton from Sydney strengthened her consistency on the weekend, with 13 touches, 17 hitouts and a goal.
“Lexi just goes from strength-to-strength as a ruck/forward – she gives us physicality at the contest and covers the ground really well. She is putting together a great season.” Webster said.
The Roos will plan to redeem themselves, with an important game against Hawthorn next week.
