North Melbourne’s team for round one of the VFL season is in, and nine AFL-listed players will be looking to press their cases for senior selection against Geelong at GMHBA Stadium.

After kicking three goals in last week’s practice match win against Port Melbourne, Tristan Xerri will resume his role in the ruck.

Eddie Ford, Taylor Garner and Matt McGuinness have all been named in the forward-line along with Curtis Taylor, who is looking to prove his fitness after recovering from concussion.

Dom Tyson and Will Walker have been named in the midfield while Connor Menadue will start on the half-back flank. Phoenix Spicer has been named on the interchange.

The clash will be new captain Flynn Appleby’s first opportunity to lead his side out in a battle for premiership points.
