The nominees for the AFLW MVP Awards are in, with Jas Garner, Emma Kearney and Jenna Bruton all in the mix for top honours.
Three players from each club are nominated for the player-voted accolade. Once each team’s nominees are put forward, players cannot vote for their own teammates in the second stage of voting.
Garner finished third in the 2021 AFLCA Champion Player on 57 votes, five behind eventual winner Kiara Bowers.
She set the AFLW record for clearances in a game in round 7 with 13, and was North’s tied leading goal-kicker for the season with 9.
Once again captaining the side, Kearney was an ever-present force in the midfield, as she averaged 20.8 disposals and 4.6 tackles a game.
Kearney has also been nominated for the Most Courageous and Best Captain awards, capping off yet another incredible personal campaign.
The third member of North’s quality midfield to be nominated for league MVP, Bruton once again provided elite outside class from the wing.
The former best and fairest winner averaged 18.1 disposals and 9 contested possessions a game, as she put together yet another outstanding season in 2021.
North’s final nominee for the AFLW MVP Awards is Bella Eddey, who has been nominated as the competition's Best First Year Player.
Selected with pick 13 in the 2020 AFLW Draft, Eddey played every game of the 2021 season and kicked 3 goals for the year, as she split her time between the wing and forward line.
