North Melbourne key-forward Robbie Tarrant has pulled up well after making a successful comeback from a lingering lower leg injury in the VFL on Sunday.

Tarrant had 12 possessions, took seven marks and kicked one goal in Werribee's nine-point loss to Williamstown at Burbank Oval.

It was Tarrant's first game since round 23 last season, with the forward diagnosed with a tibial stress reaction in March despite a modified pre-season training program.

North football director Geoff Walsh told AFL.com.au on Tuesday that Tarrant had "pulled up really well" after Sunday's game.

"Robbie got through the game, got a fair bit of the footy and took about three or four contested marks, which was pleasing," Walsh said.

"He played about 70-75 per cent game time and we'll look to step that up this week and then assess things from there."

Tarrant told NMFC.com.au that his leg had felt "fine" in his comeback game.

"It's probably taken me an extra couple of weeks to really get it right so nothing else gets sore when I come back," Tarrant said soon after Sunday's game.

"It was frustrating waiting that little bit extra (time), but I was able to play a good chunk of game time today and felt pretty good out there."

Tarrant said he had settled into the pace of Sunday's game reasonably well after an "initial blowout", and had improved his work rate after the first quarter.

Despite giving Werribee a strong marking option in attack, Tarrant said he had room for improvement.

"In my head I'm thinking I missed a few (marks)," Tarrant said.

"It's always the way when you finish a game you think of all the things that you should have done better, but I thought I was a little bit stationary in the marking contests."
