Todd Goldstein has issued a call to action imploring North fans and members to get to Marvel Stadium for Good Friday.

North Melbourne play the Dogs in the marquee fixture, and the ruckman says it is important not just to get behind the club, but also the cause.

“What we have to focus on is: this game isn’t just about football. It’s about a much bigger picture,” Goldstein told RSN.

“Anyone who has kids, and I’ve got four and about to have my fifth, always has something to do with the Royal Children’s Hospital and it’s such an incredible place.

“That’s why we want to encourage members and fans to come out to the game … it’s about trying to raise money and give back to a place that does so much for the community.”

With the amount of young, raw talent coming through at the club, there’s no reason to stay at home for the clash according to Goldstein.

He says the new group of young players has given him a new outlook on football and his role within the team.

“It’s a bit daunting knowing some of these kids were three or four years old when I got drafted … there’s a lot of hope and excitement around these kids,” he said.

“I think this group of young kids is as good a group of young kids as I’ve seen come through the footy club … Ben Cunnington and I have been working together really well in trying to teach our young midfield as much as we can.

“They’ve got a lot of talent, they just need to be refined and moulded … we know it’s going to take time but we’re really excited to see the development.”

Despite opening the season with back-to-back losses, Goldstein says the club is pushing in the right direction.

Positives have been taken out of every game and training sessions so far this season according to the veteran, and a bright future looms.

“Every failure is a chance to learn, and once you learn from it you put it away,” he said.

“We’ve definitely seen bits and pieces of signs of where we want to be and what we want to do … you can definitely see promise in the team.

“We’ve really worked on the connection of the players and I think we’re as tight as we’ve ever been … I love the footy club and the people around the footy club … I know we can be a successful side, we just have to put it together.”
