Jed Anderson has promised to give the Bulldogs a run for their money on Friday after North’s disappointing showing on the Gold Coast.
The hard-nosed midfielder was one of only a few who could hold his head high on Saturday night with 27 disposals and a career high 14 tackles.
“We’re ready to give it a red-hot crack against the Dogs,” he told North Media.
“We’ll reassess the game on Monday, and then really look forward to facing the Bulldogs.
“It is a big occasion on Good Friday, and we want to keep it so we’re going to come out and have a red-hot crack.”
Anderson believes his young side can take some positives out of the second half against Gold Coast, despite the final margin.
North struggled to impose itself but showed flashes of quality in the third quarter.
Anderson says the team needs to work on coming out of the gates firing from the first bounce.
“We didn’t really get [the intensity] until the last five minutes of the third quarter when we started to edge back,” he said.
“They had the momentum and we couldn’t really bite back on the scoreboard.
“I think we just need to come out with that intent, really hit hard and really come forward at teams.”
Anderson’s 14-tackle effort pushes him into the top five for tackles in a game for North’s, sitting five tackles behind Jack Ziebell’s record of 19.
He says applying that sort of pressure in the contest comes naturally.
“Fourteen tackles just comes with the game plan as an inside mid … it was good to be back out there playing my role,” he said.
“[It’s] not the result we wanted but hopefully I can take it forward and build on the game I had.”
