Nick Larkey’s impressive five goal haul has resulted in a NAB AFL Rising Star nomination.
The 21-year-old has booted 17 goals from 10 games this season, since breaking into the side in Round 6.
Drafted to North with pick 73 in 2016, Larkey was forced to bide his time in the VFL, only playing two games in his debut season in 2017.
Winning the Frosty Miller Medal in 2018, Larkey was knocking on the door for an opportunity.
North GM football Cameron Joyce said the nomination is well deserved.
“Nick has worked incredibly hard since being drafted and was probably unlucky in the early stages not to get a call-up into the senior side,” Joyce said.
“He didn’t have an opportunity at senior level last year but worked really hard to build his game through the VFL and the rewards are now coming for him.
“He’s come a long way and has become a dangerous proposition in our forward line.”
Larkey is the club’s fourth Rising Star nomination this year.
