The new faces
Aidan Corr
Arriving from GWS in the trade period, Corr is a 195-centimetre defender capable of locking down forwards of any size.
With Josh Walker moving forward, Corr looks to generally fulfil the role of the third tall defender, primarily running off his man to create a numerical advantage at the marking contest. However, he is more than capable of playing in one of the traditional tall-defender roles.
An aggressive spoiler and strong intercept mark, he is adept at clearing the ball out of the defensive 50, without allowing the opposition to get hands to it.
An efficient kick, he has twice ranked in the top ten in the AFL for disposal efficiency, and will provide welcome composure and leadership in the back line.
Corr lined up at centre-half back in the AAMI Community Series against Hawthorn, restricting Tim O’Brien to one goal, while collecting a game high ten intercepts.

Charlie Lazzaro
With the ability to play in the midfield or the forward line, Lazzaro brings versatility to North Melbourne’s lineup.
Equally comfortable in the heat of the contest or out wide in space, Lazzaro rated highly in agility tests at the NAB AFL Draft combine where he also impressed with his clean hands and vision.
A tireless and courageous player, he averaged 20 disposals a game as a bottom age member of the Geelong Falcons.
Lazzaro impressed in the pre-season game against St Kilda, and although he was quieter in the AAMI Community Series clash against Hawthorn, he still impressed with his work ethic, running and impact around the contest.
Jaidyn Stephenson
The most high-profile of North’s additions in the off-season, it’s no secret that Stephenson is targeting more midfield time in 2021.
Initially drafted as a midfielder by Collingwood, he spent the majority of his early career deep in the forward line as he kicked 76 goals in 54 games.
However, Stephenson has improved his strength and running capacity heading into this season, and looked more than comfortable in an inside midfield role against Hawthorn.
Collecting 27 disposals, the most of any North player, Stephenson also kicked two behinds as he drifted forward through the middle of the ground and looked to assert himself on the scoreboard.
He also kicked a goal on the run from the forward pocket against St Kilda, showcasing that he has not lost any of his slick forward craft.
Lachie Young
A pacey outside player, Young can contribute on the half back flank or the wing.
After eight games in two seasons at the Western Bulldogs, Young comes to North with an AFL ready frame and the experience to make an impact for the outset.
An effective kick who puts his head over the ball, Young ranked fourth amongst rookies for one-percenters in 2019.
He looked promising in the pre-season games, collecting 11 disposals at 91 percent efficiency against Hawthorn while making his presence felt against St Kilda.
Tom Powell
The first of North’s new crop of rookies to debut, Powell has seen his stock rise over the course of pre-season.
A midfielder with a knack for finding the ball, Powell averaged over 33 disposals and 8 clearances a game in his draft year.
With clean, quick hands, Powell can get the ball out of the contest and into open space in the blink of an eye.
He collected 16 disposals in just over a half against Hawthorn and was one of North’s most impressive players against St Kilda.
