Sydney could regain key players Kurt Tippett and Gary Rohan for Sunday’s clash against North Melbourne.
Tippett has been sidelined since Round 5 with a hip injury, while Rohan was concussed in a sickening clash against Carlton a fortnight ago.
“He’s looking OK at the moment,” John Longmire said of Tippett’s chances.
“We’ll know for sure by the end of the week.
“He’s looking pretty positive at the moment, both he and Gary Rohan.
“They’ll do more at training today and if they pull up well from that we expect them to fully train on Friday.
“At this stage they’re looking pretty positive.”
Longmire said defender Aliir Alliir was also in the mix to return.
“Obviously without (Jarrad) Waite you look at the players they’ll (the Kangaroos) bring back into the side,” he said.
“Obviously Ben Brown’s there and he’s a very good player. He’s got some genuine height and Mason Wood and those guys in their front half … we’ll discuss that in match committee and come up with the best mix we think is right.”
The Swans’ coach piled praise on North, after its big win over ladder-leaders Adelaide.
“On the weekend they were sensational, to beat the premiership favourites at this time,” Longmire said.
“To beat Adelaide by ten goals and to have a ten goal to zero first quarter was incredible. Their form was as good as any team going around, in that game.
“They were able to win the centre clearances, get the ball forward and play it in their half, and were super-efficient when they got the ball inside their forward 50.”
Longmire said Sydney had huge respect for North ahead of Sunday’s game.
“They’ve got a very strong defence. They’ve got a ruckman who’s an All-Australian quality ruckman,” he added.
“Their players are in good form and they were able to execute incredibly efficiently on the weekend.”
