The North Melbourne Football Club and its loyal fans have raised more than $7,500 for the Good Friday Appeal, after Darren Crocker escaped Neil's Wheel on Friday.

The AFLW coach ventured to the Melbourne Star with Rising Star Daisy Bateman, and once inside they couldn’t leave until the donation target had been reached.

This was the second year in a row Crocker had taken part in the 3AW initiative, a responsibility he welcomes with open arms.

“The Good Friday Appeal means a lot to North Melbourne … I’m pleased to be part of a worthy cause,” Crocker told North Media.

“We’ve pushed for Good Friday football for a long time, and being a really bold and innovative club, we always thought there was an opportunity there.

“I think it’s a great initiative by the footy club and it’s been important that we’ve been able to follow through with that vision.”

With traditional Good Friday opponents the Western Bulldogs also taking part in the initiative, along with NRL side Melbourne Storm, Crocker said it was great to see so many people supporting the Good Friday Appeal.

“It’s such a good cause that helps so many families … it’s a good way to bring a little bit more promotion to that space,” he said.

“I got approached about a week and a half ago to take part this year … if the club wants me to do it again next year I would definitely be up for it.”

Donations can still be made via nmfc.com.au/wheel, and the club would like to send a huge thank you to everyone who has donated so far.
