North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos’ fans have shown their unwavering support, by helping the club break its AFLW membership record.
The Kangaroos clicked over 1,361 members on Monday, their biggest AFLW tally ever.
In their third year in the AFLW competition, captain Emma Kearney said it was a special feat for the Roos and our members.
“It’s really special that we were able to hit the record,” she told North Media.
“It probably shows you how much momentum we’ve been able to build over the last three years, but it’s also a credit to all our loyal fans to keep supporting us particularly, after what was a really difficult year for most people in 2020. For our supporters to get behind us again this season has been good.
“The competition has grown heaps, the skill level is getting better every year … it’s getting quicker, so my old legs are getting a bit tired, but it’s been great and always really competitive year-on-year.”

It was fitting the new record was reached on International Women’s Day.
“International Women’s Day is a really, really special day to celebrate all the achievements that women have achieved over the years, but also to recognise how far and how much progress we’re still making, and still need to achieve,” Kearney said.
“To see our loyal fans support us by buying memberships is really special and we’re able to be good role models to other young girls growing up.”
North CEO, Ben Amarfio, has thanked the club's fans for being part of an incredible ride.
“The AFLW competition continues to go from strength-to-strength and we thank our members for being part of the journey,” Amarfio said.
“Their ongoing dedication and support doesn’t go unnoticed and seeing the royal blue and white around the ground on game day is really heart-warming. I know our team gets a real boost from it.
“It was an incredible show of support to have our Round 2 Arden St game sell out in ten minutes, and I encourage those who are not yet a member to sign up before our last home-and-away games this season, to ensure entry.
“We have seen first-hand what our team is capable of and with only a couple of home-and-away games to play out, anything is possible.”
The Kangaroos will take on the Western Bulldogs on Saturday at North Hobart Oval.
