Charlie Lazzaro’s desire to improve has impressed the North Melbourne coaching staff, according to head of development Gavin Brown.
Taken with pick 36 in the 2020 NAB AFL Draft, Lazzaro is constantly looking for extra ways he can improve his game.
“He’s always grabbing the coaches to do a little bit extra,” Brown told North Media.
“He’s got a lot to learn … but he’s had a real impact in games just with his pure speed and footy nous.
“He can play inside-mid or he can go forward to create a bit of damage … he’s really putting his hand up.”
The 18-year-old played in last week's practice match against St Kilda, and impressed with his ball-use and ability to create space.
And Lazzaro isn’t the only draftee who is putting in the extra work and doing their best to impress.
Brown praised the approach of all the young draftees, pointing to their determination.
“This is a group of incredibly driven young men … they’re certainly a little bit out of the box in that regard,” Brown said.
“Coming to look at vision … learning patterns … they’re there to be picked and it’s not about age.
“They’re keen as mustard and certainly no shrinking violets.”
