North Melbourne is preparing to make a big impact in its fourth Good Friday Appeal game, when it takes on the Dogs in Round 3.

In its 90th year, The Good Friday Appeal was launched on Tuesday, with two-year-old Malu Hunt the face of the fundraising event.

Hunt was diagnosed with infantile spasms – a rare type of epilepsy - when he was 12-months-old. He recently underwent surgery to disconnect one half of his brain to minimise the effect of the debilitating seizures.

North CEO Ben Amarfio said it was children like Malu that made the game so important.

“Hearing about Malu’s story is absolutely heartbreaking,” Amarfio said.

“But it gives us a sense of perspective and if we can help raise funds for children like Malu, then we will give it our all to make it a day to remember.”

Amarfio said the club is looking forward to hosting the game again.

“We were disappointed that we didn’t get to host the Good Friday Appeal game last year due to Covid-19,” Amarfio said.

“It is one of the key dates on our calendar and there is nothing more special than raising money for a cause which is bigger than ourselves and as they have in the past, I’m sure our very generous North supporters will get right behind the event.

“Like North, the Good Friday Appeal has a rich history and we are grateful to be a part of it.”
