Bailey Scott has been rewarded with a standout season, with North Melbourne offering the young wing/forward a new two-year deal.
The contract ties the 20-year-old to the Kangaroos until at least the end of 2022.
“It’s pretty cool to wear the number 8 for North for another two years and hopefully be a part of a building future for the football club,” Scott told North Media.
“I can’t wait to continue my journey here.”
Scott said it’s the exciting future filled with young talent that made his decision to sign an easy one.
“We’ve got a good young group coming through and there’s a few that have signed on for at least the next two years,” he continued.
“For a group like that to stick around, play some football together and hopefully be a big part of the future is exciting for North and hopefully we can start to move in the right direction next season.
“We’ve had a lot of young kids play AFL games this year and it’s great for the experience and come next year hopefully we’ve got a pretty healthy list and a lot to pick from and that means whoever’s playing we know they’ve had a little bit of experience and everyone’s right to go and can just fit into that system nicely.”
North GM football, Brady Rawlings, said Scott was an important player for the future.
“Bailey has really taken some great steps and positive signs over the past couple of years,” he said.
“He’s had a really impressive season so far and has shown great composure under pressure for someone of his experience.
“We firmly believe he is going to be a really valuable player for us alongside our other youngsters.”
The hard running recruit was taken by North with pick 49 in the 2018 National Draft.
Scott earned a Rising Star Nomination in his debut game in Round 1, 2019, and went on to play another three games that season, before undergoing foot surgery in June.
The mid/forward has lined up on 12 occasions so far this season.
