For the second time in three weeks, Leigh Adams features in NMFC Playbook.

While Adams' repeat efforts against Carlton were highlighted in Round 16, in this edition we analyse how well the gutsy midfielder reads the play.

Following North's win over Gold Coast in Round 5, kangaroos.com.au looked at the way Lindsay Thomas was able to run into an open goal by outsmarting his opponent, and it’s a similar scenario this week.

From the first centre bounce of the second half against the Demons, Michael Firrito receives a handball and kicks long. Adams starts about 60 metres out from goal and sprints to get front and centre of the pack at the hotspot inside 50.

In a split second, Adams realises Drew Petrie has run under the ball, seeing that it will carry over the back of the pack. With his opponent Joel Macdonald trying to make ground, Adams hits the contest hard and is first to the fall of the ball. He dribbles an important goal just 16 seconds after the bounce.
