For the second time in the club’s history, more than 32,000 supporters have joined North Melbourne as proud members. The figure, released on Thursday, is a significant achievement and further evidence of the fans’ faith in the direction of the team on-field under head coach Brad Scott and organisation off-field led by James Brayshaw and Eugene Arocca.

The figure includes 3,500 Tasmanian members and has the club on target to achieve its aim of reaching 35,000 members for the year. But critical to the club eclipsing the mark will be its ability to lure back 4,950 unrenewed members.

“We are delighted with our position so far and believe we can attract 35,000 members through a combination of some great on-field results and continued good news stories off-field,” North chief executive Eugene Arocca said.

“Our boys will be pushing for a finals spot and it’s clear by this result, our people want to share in the excitement and be a part of the team by joining up as members. However we need those who have supported us in the past to rejoin the club. It’s vital to our ability to take things to the next level as an organisation.”

The Kangaroos’ membership tally currently sits at 32,007 and with eight home games still remaining in Victoria, there’s still plenty of value in a membership.

“The message is pretty simple really. Join now and you’ll have the ability to be there when we play the Bulldogs, Lions, Crows, the Blues on a blockbuster Friday night, Demons and Dockers just to name a few,” Arocca added.

“I encourage all North supporters out there to contact your family or friends and get them signed up and help us reach 35,000 members.”

If a full membership doesn’t suit, Arocca says there are plenty of other options to consider.

“There’s basically a package to suit everyone including three game memberships which are ideal for new members. There’s even an option for those who can’t attend any matches but still want to be counted as a member with a Community Ambassador membership. It’s really a matter of contacting the club and discussing our packages with a staff member.”

Community Ambassador memberships count towards North Melbourne’s membership tally and can also be a way for existing members to help the club grow it’s supporter base.

The memberships are given to ambassadors who create a vital link between the club and their local communities, getting others involved and bringing them to the footy for the first time.

This year the club will have more than 100 Community Ambassadors in schools, Auskick centres and junior football clubs in the local North Melbourne area, Wyndham and Ballarat.
