A high price tag, the re-emergence of Hamish McIntosh and some modest pre-season form has seen Todd Goldstein fall slightly out of favour with AFL Dream Team selectors; but on Sunday, his efforts would have won back some fans.

He wasn't named in the best players and didn't rack up a heap of possessions, but Goldstein was North's highest scorer with 78 points.

The big man was most effective in the first term with a tally of 28 points and ended the match with 27 hit-outs to go with his 13 possessions. With a kick to handball ratio of 1:5 there looks to be plenty of room for improvement.

Priced at $491,600, the second-most expensive ruckman behind Dean Cox, many will be keeping an eye on him in the final round of the NAB Cup before deciding on whether to pick him.

Another who'll be attracting attention as a mid-priced forward is Aaron Edwards with the 28 year-old managing 49 Dream Team points in the first half alone and ending with 72.

Edwards started the NAB Cup in fine fashion and has been a mainstay in a key-forward post during the entire pre-season campaign. At a touch over $320,000 he looks a safe selection in any attack.

A renowned high scorer, Liam Anthony relished a return to the midfield against the Bulldogs and tallied a respectable 71.

Despite that, the North Melbourne number four could still be a risky pick-up this early given he barely played late last year and has had stints in defence already in the NAB Cup.

Others to shine on Sunday included Brent Harvey, who netted 38 in the best individual scoring quarter from any player, and Sam Wright in a new role in defence amassing 66 points.

At the other end of the scale, while Sam Gibson has thousands of coaches considering his viability as an interchange option, he had a quiet day with just five points in two quarters.
