Hale's season almost ended prematurely at training when he hurtled into the fence at Arden Street flying for a mark. He was lucky to escape with bruised ribs and a shin laceration.
Back in action, Hale kicked 17 goals in the first seven rounds, only to endure a minor interruption to his season following a knock to the back against Adelaide.
He returned to the side two weeks later but looked to have fallen out of favour after only a fortnight when dropped to the reserves.
The big man earned a reprieve against the Bombers in unusual circumstances, but was unable to add to his goal tally in the second half of the season, finishing the year as a member of the North Ballarat premiership side.
AFL.com.au’s Steve Lavell says: Struggled to rebound from a disappointing 2009, though he kicked 17 goals in the first seven rounds. Suffered a back injury and was then dropped to the VFL, where he played well in the ruck. Has two years to run on his contract but may be on the trade table.
Highlights: Round 3 v West Coast - 12 possessions, 3 goals
Round 5 v Hawthorn - 7 possessions, 3 goals

The fans say: Suzi - September 22
I reckon David Hale should get a lot more credit for what he does when he plays. I rate him highly as does the coach but not many other roo fans do.
