Dean Laidley believes the time is right to blood debutant Sam Wright in Saturday's clash against Geelong at Skilled Stadium.

After the recent success of recruits Jack Ziebell and Ben Warren, North Melbourne will again look to its youth with the inclusion of it's second round draft pick after just four games with North Melbourne's affiliate, Werribee.

Drafted with the Kangaroos' second pick in the 2008 National Draft, Wright was teammates with NAB Rising Star nominee Ziebell at the Murray Bushrangers and averaged 18 possessions a game in the TAC Cup premiership side.

The 18 year old has excelled in recent weeks with Werribee in the VFL and had 21 possessions and a goal last week.

Despite his slender frame, Wright is expected to add plenty of run to the North Melbourne team and sneak forward to fill the void left by an injured Matt Campbell.

While Wright’s inclusion may have come as a surprise, it's not the case for Brady Rawlings and Gavin Urquhart who return after being late withdrawals from last week's clash against Port Adelaide.

Nathan Grima meanwhile has taken another step forward, included as an emergency. Grima suffered a knee injury shortly after joining the Kangaroos in 2007 as a mature aged rookie and it could have easily signaled the early end of his AFL future.

But in a rare move, the coaching staff showed tremendous faith in Grima and promoted the Tasmanian to the senior list at the end of 2008. Dean Laidley obviously identified plenty of promise and determination in him considering he hadn't played a single game for the club.

The rugged defender has quickly gained a reputation as Werribee's best defender, getting the job on the opposition's strongest forward on a weekly basis.

Midfielder Matt Riggio has also been included in the squad as an emergency after returning from injury just four weeks ago.

Riggio, who has played nine games for the club since debuting in 2007, racked up 25 possessions for Werribee last week in their loss against Geelong.

A cautious approach has been taken with NAB Rising Star nominee Ziebell who pulled up sore after last week's match, with his leg a slight concern.
