Despite his promising efforts on Friday night in the NAB Cup opener, North key position player Robbie Tarrant says he has a long way to go before he feels comfortable out on the field against the best.

“I’m anything but content with where I’m at but I feel like after another pre-season, I’ve got my body in a position where I can play some senior footy this year and contribute to the team,” he told Inside Footy’s Ben Casanelia.

The 22-year old has played just nine games in four years due to a wretched run with injuries.

“It’s been a frustrating at times with the injuries but things finally seem to be turning my way. In saying that there’s a long way to go.”

Playing as a forward against the Tigers in game one, Tarrant was dangerous in front of goals pulling down three marks and kicking one goal and one behind.

In the second match against the Hawks, he went to the other end of the ground to cover for an injured Luke Delaney at full-back.

“I honestly don’t have a preference and feel just as comfortable at either end,” he said.

But with backman Nathan Grima sidelined for up to six weeks, the 196cm and 99kg athlete may have to spend a little more time in defence.
