White turns corner
After 16 weeks in rehabilitation with a serious shoulder injury, Marcus White has put in a best on ground performance for North Ballarat in the VFL during its 6
In just his fifth game back, White had 32 possessions and laid six tackles, showing no signs of any discomfort or concern for his shoulder.
Taken in the 2008 rookie draft, White spoke a month ago about his desire to prove his ability before the end of the season.
“It’s very important that I show that I’m good enough to be on this list and go forward with a team that’s really on the rise. I’ve got to move forward with everyone else and hopefully show that I can improve the list and show a bit of leadership,“ he said.
If the former Calder Cannon can continue to improve on this performance, the sky is the limit and his goal will have been achieved.
Matching White's 32 disposal effort was Cruize Garlett who again turned in a stellar performance. At just 174 centimetres tall, Garlett defies the odds each week and is now a proven ball magnet, but also managed to lay seven tackles during the Roosters' onslaught.
Key forward prospect Aaron Black kicked four goals for the afternoon and gathered 14 touches while Aaron Mullett amassed 24 possessions and had seven tackles.
Electrifying small-forward Matt Campbell had 21 disposals and a goal with Brayden Norris collecting 18 touches and a goal. Omitted from the senior side after playing against Port Adelaide, Cameron Richardson had 21 possessions and also snagged a goal while Cameron Delaney had a solid day in defence with 17 touches.
