Boom toward 400?
It’s 58 games from becoming a reality, but former North champion and football commentator David King says Brent Harvey will reach 400 games.
‘Boomer’, 34, is in season-best form after a match-winning three goal third quarter effort against Essendon on Sunday night.
"He’ll get there, he’ll get to 400," King told SEN radio on Wednesday morning.
"He’s on about 350-something and he’s two years away. I think they’ll play finals the next couple of years, they’ll play this year obviously, and all those games will count.”
King, a two-time premiership player with the Kangaroos also backed Harvey to continue his role in the midfield and around the ball.
"I don’t think he’s got to the stage where he needs to play a forward pocket or half-forward yet.”
Harvey recently declared he was keen to play on for another season with Brad Scott suggesting contract talks would be held at the end of season.
If King’s prediction comes to fruition, Harvey would need to play until 2015 when he’s about 37-years of age - the same age as Dustin Fletcher is now.
"He’s playing good, midfield minutes, he hasn’t lost his speed and his moments in games are still as big as what the next wave coming through are."
Harvey has played 342 games so far and could be ranked inside the top 10 on the AFL list of all-time games played by the time he retires.
