Fantasy: Round 2 Preview
Last time North played the Bulldogs, Todd Goldstein produced one of his best fantasy games of the year.
The Kangaroos will be looking to rebound this week against the Western Bulldogs, after a disappointing Round 1 loss. Fans will have to wait to see them in action, however, with the game the last fixture of the round on Sunday afternoon.
Last time these two teams played was Round 7 last year, in a game that saw several strong performances. Majak Daw and Drew Petrie did a number on the Bulldogs' defence, accumulating 128 and 110 fantasy points respectively, while fellow tall Aaron Black was not far behind with 90.
Todd Goldstein produced his second-best fantasy total of the year, with 127 fantasy points opposed to Will Minson. The Kangaroos' ruckman is in some doubt, however, after suffering a knock to his shoulder last week.
Dan Currie has been named on the extended interchange bench and Brad Scott has earmarked him to play if Goldstein is not fully fit. At $115,200, Currie is an excellent bench candidate for your rucks in AFL Fantasy this year.
Last week Jack Ziebell and Sam Gibson were among a number of North stars below their best, but they will take confidence out of their 2013 performances against the Bulldogs. The pair accumulated just under 200 fantasy points between them in that match. Both players are ball magnets, and should bounce back strongly this week.
One positive out of last week was the performance of Aaron Mullett, who will look to take his game to the next level in 2014. The dashing defender averaged 75 last season, but is capable of pushing this to the 80-85 level,
With North not playing until Sunday, wait until the final squad is trimmed to 22 players before making your trades in AFL Fantasy this week. There could be a few selection surprises yet, with all players retaining their place in the initial 25-man squad at this stage.
