McGuire: North criticism "appalling"
Eddie McGuire says the continuing criticism of North Melbourne’s partnership with World Vision Australia is appalling.
Eddie McGuire says the continuing criticism of North Melbourne’s partnership with World Vision Australia is appalling.
“People have been really launching into James Brayshaw this week. I just think it’s appalling the scrutiny North has been under this week for doing what seemed to be a pretty good deal,” he said on Triple M’s Hot Breakfast on Thursday.
The club announced a deal with World Vision Australia on February 28, in a move aimed at enhancing its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
On Tuesday, former directors Peter de Rauch and John Nicholson launched a stinging attack on the club for turning away from gaming revenue but McGuire believes such negative opinions from outside mean little, with a bright future looming for the Kangaroos.
“I went down to training recently to watch the Kangaroos…There’s a real opportunity for the Kangas. The setup down there is great. That whole area around North Melbourne is about to be redeveloped, you’ve got your tentacles going in to Ballarat which is going to be sensational if that comes off, and you’ve also got the other site down in Tasmania now.
“From maybe people criticising you not going to the Gold Coast on that deal, you are now starting to fashion something that is a long term plan that could really look after a lot of people.”
