Brad Scott believes a big turn-out at Sunday’s Eureka Stadium clash against the Bulldogs could help in Ballarat’s bid to host AFL matches in the season proper.

Speaking at Aegis Park on Thursday, Scott urged supporters to come out in force and get behind North Melbourne in its third round NAB Cup fixture.

"It really is critical for a lot of people to turn up and for the people of Ballarat to show just how much they want AFL football to be a permanent fixture in their city,” Scott said.

“The only way we're going to build the momentum to get a stadium there to play for premiership points is if we have the support of the people.”

Fans will have the opportunity to see several of the club’s up-and-comers during a curtain-raiser between VFL affiliate North Ballarat and Williamstown, while a dedicated Kid Zone will ensure junior Roos are kept entertained.

“One thing I can guarantee people is that we'll be driving up there and I'm pretty sure the Bulldogs are doing the same so unless they close a road off the game will go ahead,” Scott joked referring to the Bombers’ plight last weekend.

“I think we had 11 thousand people buying tickets for the Wangaratta game even though it didn't go ahead, so hopefully we can get a similar if not bigger crowd in Ballarat.”
