North Melbourne legend Glenn Archer has gone above and beyond once again for his beloved club in an effort to raise awareness about its Box On debt reduction campaign.

Showing the same aggressive traits and courage which lead him to become one of the most feared players in the history of the AFL, Archer willingly went toe-to-toe with IBF Middleweight Champion Daniel Geale today to mark the club’s achievement of raising $500,000 to put towards debt.

Despite being way out of his comfort zone, ‘Arch’ held his own in the ring despite copping some heavy blows throughout the two-round fight.

“It was difficult in there and clearly Daniel is a talented and tough bloke. I’m pretty sure he took it easy on me,” Archer said after the bout.

“I’m doing this to encourage all our members and supporters to purchase a Premiership Pledge on the club’s website and donate to the debt. The response has been overwhelming so far with $500,000 raised. I think we can do more and I’m told there’s be other’s doing similar stunts as this along the way.

“Maybe we can push JB out of a plane or get him to bungee jump when we raise a million,” he joked.

Geale meanwhile praised Archer’s ability in the ring.

“I obviously know about his reputation on the field and I was impressed with his ability as a boxer. He’s a pretty tough bloke.”

The Tasmanian boxer will defend his title in March in Hobart.
