Enemy Territory: New forwards
The absence of Josh Kennedy leaves a hole in the West Coast forward line and according to Eagles’ coach John Worsfold, there are a number of potential options t
In his weekly media conference at Patersons Stadium, Worsfold was asked about the prospect of Scott Lycett lining up on Sunday.
"He's (Lycett) a talented young player coming through. Only had the one game last year but filled in really well for one of your ruckmen so he's an option that we certainly have to look at.
"He's played 90 percent of his football last year and this year as a key forward. He's had short stints in the ruck to make sure we're slowly progressing that side of his game but he's been mainly playing as a key forward. He's one name right up there (to come in as a replacement)."
Fraser McInnes is another in line for a debut.
"Fraser's been very impressive with his start at the footy club. He's a big, strong boy who's very young but is going to grow into a very strong key forward. Reads the game very well, a real natural footballer and has already performed very well for Perth as a key forward," Worsfold added.
There is also the possibility of replacing Kennedy with a medium sized forward and Worsfold responded with a simple, 'absolutely' when asked whether this could be the case.
"We’ve got plenty of options...we could easily bring in Scott Lycett or Fraser McInnes. We could also go a mid-sized forward like a Gerrick Weedon so we're really pleased with that side of the club."
With many options up their sleeve, Thursday's team selection for the Eagles will be telling.
