THE NORTH Melbourne Football Club has secured the services of its former dual-premiership champion Brett Allison.

Allison will rejoin the Kangaroos as an assistant coach after having played 219 games for the club between 1987 and 1999.

He has been with Sydney for the past nine years as a development coach initially looking after the AFL NSW/ACT program and more recently the Sydney reserves team.

“I am extremely excited to be coming back to North Melbourne.  I obviously know the place very well and had a successful playing career there but have been away a long time,” Allison said.

“It’s an extremely exciting time for North which has a vibrant young list, new facility and terrific new coach in Brad Scott.”

The 41 year-old will be in charge of North’s backline and will begin his role in early November.

“Brett has built an impressive résumé at Sydney and he’ll be a terrific addition to our club,” said North Melbourne’s chief of football Donald McDonald.

“With his strong background in development, we think Brett will be a great resource and perfect fit for our young list.”

“I wish everyone at the Swans all the best in the future and thoroughly enjoyed my time at the club.  Paul Roos and the entire team have built a brilliant organisation which I’m sure will continue to be successful,” Allison added.
