TWO DAYS after celebrating his 250th game with a three-point win over the Western Bulldogs, North Melbourne midfielder Brent Harvey has recovered well from an incident that almost ended his evening.

But it did rob him of some special memories.

Harvey was felled by an errant kick to the head in Sunday's first quarter, which saw him leave the field with concussion.

Yet he shook off the knock and returned to play an important role, similar to Hawk Sam Mitchell's efforts against Port Adelaide in round eight.

"It's as good as gold," Harvey said of his head on Tuesday morning. "We've got our first training session today so I'm looking forward to getting out there and having a run."
Even in his milestone match, Harvey registered a first – he'd never been knocked out before.

"I didn't know too much about it," he said. "I just told the doctor I was okay and he went through a few little tests, asked me a few questions and I was back on the ground again. It seemed to work for me.

"I went down the race and I was sitting on the deck for a while – for three or four minutes – and he asked me to count back from 100 in sixes. I told him I'd struggle doing that anyway, but I think I passed his test on that one. That's why I was allowed back on the ground."

The 30-year-old remembers little of the first half, which was highlighted by a stunning goal from his own boot.

Thankfully, he's been able to appreciate that since.

"I watched the tape yesterday and I can remember it very, very vaguely," he said. "The first half is a big blur. Parts of the second half I can remember.

"I think I can remember the most important parts and that's running out with the kids before the game, Drew Petrie's smother sticks in my mind and certainly getting carried off the ground and singing the song with the boys."

And post-match, Harvey suggested the Roos had won by eight points – which certainly didn't tally given Bulldogs captain Brad Johnson's kick-to-win predicament.

"I did say that," he laughed. "Considering Brad Johnson had a shot at goal after the game to win it for them, I'm sure we didn't win by eight points.

"I was a little bit shaken, even yesterday I had a little bit of a headache but today I feel pretty good."
