North coach Brad Scott has hinted at a fiery start against the Gold Coast on Saturday night with both sides desperate for a win. Coming off a bye, the Kangaroos will be looking to atone for a heavy loss to the Hawks in Round 10.

"We go into this week's game really healthy, fit and fresh, so we'll come out ready to attack the Gold Coast on the weekend," Scott said at Aegis Park.

"Often after an extremely disappointing loss you want to get out the next day and play if you can. It (the bye) has given us the chance to work on a number of things we clearly had to work on, so from that perspective it's been good.”

The fallout from the 115-point loss to Hawthorn hit the club hard with Scott saying the performance was not 'anywhere near the level that North Melbourne people expect'.

He added, "Every player is indoctrinated as to how to care for this football club and what the club is about. We've got a massive responsibility to turn it around in the next 12 games.”

Scott also claimed the team’s recent run rested largely on his shoulders.

"I deserve more criticism than anyone, because I coach the side, I pick the players and ask them to play their roles. Personally I wish that's where the criticism started and ended because it's my job to get the job done with the team.”

Although the Suns sit 18th on the ladder, Scott says the Roos are well aware of their ability.

"Their (Gold Coast's) talent hasn't gone anywhere despite what people say. It's a matter of when, not if for them so we've just got to make sure it's not this Saturday night."
