This week Brent Harvey will equal the club's games record currently held by Glenn Archer as he lines up for the 311th time in North Melbourne colours.

To honour our champion, every day this week kangaroos.com.au will be posting a little fact to highlight his amazing career.

Did you know? Experience

It's hard to believe now but Harvey slipped all the way through to pick 46 in the 1995 National Draft. Understandably, the team that drafted him had worries about his height.

"I remember saying 'he's as big as Damien Oliver, is he going to be able to play AFL football?'," Denis Pagan recalled recently.

Nevertheless, he was quick to prove everyone wrong after debuting in round 22 of 1996.

He managed just one possession and the day would be one of the quietest of his career; a stepping stone to 16 years of brilliance.

Next week against the Gold Coast he's set to break the club’s games record held by Shinboner of the Century Glenn Archer and he showing no signs of slowing down any time soon.

Harvey is one of only four Kangaroos (the others are Archer, Wayne Schimmelbusch and Adam Simpson) to have reached the magical 300 game mark solely with the club.

Since his first game in the royal blue and white, 114 players have been lucky enough to pull on the royal blue and white for the first time and 77 have come and gone, but the number 29 looks like he could go on for many more years.

Only 12 players have taken the field for the Kangaroos above Harvey's 33 years and 14 days. John Blakey's final appearance was at 36 and Syd Barker's last game was at 39 and 239 days.

As the fourth oldest player in the league, Harvey is the second-most experienced only behind Dustin Fletcher who has an extra three seasons under his belt.

He now sits 41st on all-time career games list in VFL/AFL history, an unbelievable effort when you consider some 13,713 men have graced the football field since the league's inception in 1897.
