1. Great Gibson

Those Dream Team coaches who selected ex-Box Hill captain Sam Gibson before his round 12 debut at the handy price of $85,800 would have been smiling on Saturday. The 26-year-old had 22 possessions to half-time - resulting in a nice score of 88 points - before he went on to smash his previous personal best of 25 disposals (recorded in round 14 against St Kilda) with 36 by the final siren. He would finish with a massive score of 133 points.

2. Snoozy Roos wake with a start
The Kangaroos led by 26 points at the first change while keeping the Demons to just one first-quarter goal. After an eight-minute goalless spell opened the second term, the Roos nailed the first one through Robbie Tarrant. Then they took a nap and the Demons kicked the next two - before they burnt two opportunities with points - to get within three goals. But then the Roos sat up with a jolt and booted three of the quarter's last five goals, and the first five of the third after their midfield responded to what was more than likely a half-time bake.

3. Decoy Drew

After kicking 14 goals in the past two games against Carlton and Richmond, it was surprising to see the Kangaroos spend a large portion of the first half hitting up Tarrant in favour of Petrie, although the more experienced Roo was often double teamed. It was an approach that seemed to work, as both had multiple goals to their names by half-time and ended with four each - Tarrant's fourth coming from a terrific kick from outside 50 after the final siren.

4. Brad's had better days
Former Melbourne captain Brad Green looked set for a big one when he marked strongly on the lead in the game's first 20 seconds. He pumped the ball inside 50 for the first of two opening term entries but it failed to result in a score. After the Roos cracked open the game, Green still managed three second half goals. Despite the overall result, Green can still hold his head high after becoming just the eighth player to register 250 games for Melbourne.
