Despite being medically cleared to play last week, Leigh Adams found himself sidelined with coach Brad Scott electing not to play him against the Bulldogs. This week, the brave midfielder has been welcomed back into an extended squad of 25.

Adams is expected to slot into the final side which will be announced on Friday afternoon, given his shoulder injury has had time to heal.

Aaron Edwards has also been rewarded for some good form at VFL level with an inclusion in the squad. He's been kicking bags of goals for North Ballarat and against an Essendon side with multiple key defenders, he may be able to keep them honest if given the opportunity.

Levi Greenwood could be brought in to tag Essendon captain Jobe Watson. Playing with Werribee in the VFL, Greenwood has been deployed in tagging roles previously with success. Watson is crucial to the Bombers' chances of a win so if Greenwood can get on top, it will go a long way to ensuring a North victory.

"He's dominated whatever sides have thrown at him,” Brad Scott said during his media conference on Thursday.

“We'll have to try something different because we have to nullify his influence."

Sam Wright and Ben Cunnington are in line to play their 50th games.
