THE FOUR POINTS

North Melbourne

1. The Kangaroos will be keen to get some more game time into Daniel Wells ahead of their round one clash against Essendon. Wells played the second half of last Sunday's game against the Western Bulldogs - his first game since overcoming life-threatening blood clots in his lungs- and impressed with 10 possessions.

2. Coach Brad Scott has recently said his best 22 is still up in the air so this game represents a great opportunity for a number of players to stake their claims for a round one spot. In particular, rookies Sam Gibson and Aaron Mullett will be hoping they can press their cases for elevation to the senior list.

Carlton

3. The Blues are the only team yet to notch a win in 2012, and were thrashed by the Brisbane Lions by 64 points in Maroochydore last Saturday. They will be keen to find better form against the Kangaroos ahead of round one and to avoid claiming the NAB Cup wooden spoon.

4. Carlton has experimented heavily during the NAB Cup, playing vastly different teams from week to week to give their youngsters senior experience. However, with the premiership season looming, the Blues may choose to play close to their best team this Sunday so they can rediscover the teamwork they'll need to be a premiership threat in 2012.
