It was a season that went close to rivaling his 2015 All-Australian year, but Todd Goldstein isn’t content.
While he admits he enjoyed his football more than ever, the North big man is yet to achieve his ultimate goal; team success.
“I’m very much not happy with my season … I played well in parts, but I didn’t play well in every single game,” Goldstein said on the Powershop Players Podcast.
“We’re doing this in August, and I don’t want to be sitting here in August. I want to be sitting here in September or October, because I want to play finals, I want to win premierships.
“Until we are doing an exit meeting after a premiership, you can’t be satisfied.”
Modesty aside, there’s no doubting Goldstein’s impact in 2019.
He tallied a career-high disposal tally, and sat sixth in the AFL’s Player Ratings as one of the most influential players in the competition.
“In the off-season I had a big focus to make sure that for however long I have left in my career, I’m going to do everything in my power to get the most out of myself.
“You never know you’re going to have a good year, but I was confident I’d done everything I could to allow me to.
“If you know you’ve left no stone unturned, you know you’ve done the work, you automatically go into the season with that little bit of confidence.”
