Kids at the footy
Thanks to Carn the Kids, 13 year-old Jyle Fuller will be watching his beloved North Melbourne play the Saints live at Etihad Stadium this Sunday
Jyle is used to the bed, as he has to spend lots of time in it as he undergoes tests and
maintenance chemotherapy to treat his leukaemia.
“I take my North Melbourne quilt, pillow case, collector card album, pajamas, signed jumper and a flag for the wall so the hospital has a North flavour,” said Jyle.
“But nothing beats actually being at the game.”
LeasePlan has been presenting Carn the Kids events since 2003, hosting more than 17,000 kids and carers at events all around the country and providing fun days out to those who might otherwise miss out on such simple pleasures.
LeasePlan and the North Melbourne Football Club have been working together for three years to present Carn the Kids events and this Sunday afternoon, Carn the Kids will host 300 kids and their carers, including Jyle and his family.
Managing Director of LeasePlan Australia, Spiro Haralambopoulous, says his company is very proud of the Carn the Kids program.
“It’s a simple program to give kids a fun day out and it works,” said Mr Haralambopoulos.
“Particularly at the footy where the sights, smells and sounds are uniquely Australian and something kids just love and immerse themselves in.”
At Carn the Kids events, those invited are kept entertained from the moment they arrive, with player autographs, handball fun and face painting at a marquee outside the gates. They also have reserved seating, showbags and a voucher to get a meat pie - a must for kids at the footy!
In addition to Jyle and his family, this weekend’s Carn the Kids event will be attended by children from the Mirabel Foundation, the Royal Children’s Hospital, Open Family, Camp Quality, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Variety and The CREATE Foundation.
